Bow Down to a Goddess

The use of gold and metallic hued weddings became a trend in late 2014 and continues to gain momentum for brides planning their dream day. Whether incorporating the metallic color as an accent or a monochromatic palette choice, gold inspires elegance and sophistication with an air of grandeur. The use of this metallic color is one of our favorites as it is timeless and the design options for incorporating the color into a ceremony and reception are endless.

That's why when Andie Freeman Photography presented her Grecian wedding shoot with surprising golden highlights our hearts were set ablaze. Join us as we showcase Freeman's vision of "Bow Down to a Goddess."

Essence of Athens

Carefully selecting the appropriate backdrop to simulate the essence of Greece, Freeman looked no further then her hometown of Athens, Georgia. The University of Georgia's Fine Arts Building with its impressive pillars and three equal-sized panels comprising a giant, vibrant mural that was created in 1942 by internationally renowned artist Jean Charlot was the perfect backdrop. Freeman enlisted a creative team of local wedding vendors to build out her vision of beauty and opulence.

Shail K.'s Golden Beauty

The original inspiration for the golden Grecian shoot came from the procurement of a dramatic couture gown designed by India born business entrepreneur Shail K. Her bride was an aura of ethereal goddess-like beauty. The Shail K. gown has an illusion neckline adorned in lace appliques flowing into premium stretch polyester. The dramatic hand sewn beadwork dazzles on the bodice and is complimented throughout the hemline of the skirt and moderate train with stonework appliques. The bride wore gold glittering platform stems to play on the beaded accents of the gown.

Golden Accents to Inspire

The reception created by event designer, Greg Hall and Company consisted of an antique hardwood table with a place setting for four guests. Each end of the table featured tall gold vases with arrangements including white roses and lilies. The center of the table was a smaller arrangement featuring white roses and lilies with two tall gold taper candles. On either side of the centerpiece were two tall, gold pillar candleholders with metallic beaded candles. Underneath was a gold table runner with star appliques at either end. Each place setting consisted of a gold charger with a golden napkin. The china was an elegant white with a gold rim. Each place setting was adorned with it's own floral arrangement in gold vases of white roses and greenery. The tableware was cast in the hue's highlights and accented by gold chiavari chairs. Underneath the table, was a luxurious floor covering to make guests feel comfortable.

Elegance and Sophistication

The four-tiered cake designed by Holly's Cakes was embellished with golden accents and a white rose topper. Tall white taper candles and a fresh rose and lily garland was designed to provide further impact to the table. Skirting the cake table were Grecian columns draped in gold fabric and topped with ferns. The lounge area, one of our favorite elements, used a beautiful gold couch with seating for five. The second seating area was just as lovely. An 8-foot gold picture frame surrounded by similar gold wrapped columns and topped of with white rose and lily arrangements made for a polished photo booth for guests. An antique table exhibited a stack of antique books along with an hourglass and next to that stood a white birdcage with an arrangement of white lilies and roses inside.

"Bow Down to the Goddess" became a true masterpiece and gorgeous inspiration for brides looking for their own unique way to incorporate this majestic metallic!
