Sit back and take in the glamour of this rooftop wedding in New York with its urban chic feel and fabulous bride and groom, all captured through the lens of Michael Segal Photography.

Mutual friends introduced Liz and Billy who have been together for seven years. On Christmas morning, Billy proposed amongst the holiday cheer the season brings. A little caught off guard, as Liz was sure he would be proposing over the New Year's vacation they had planned - she of course said "yes" with great glee.

The Tribeca Rooftop

Liz knew she wanted a rooftop wedding in New York at the Tribeca Rooftop, and she knew she wanted to plan her dream wedding on her own. The décor she decided would compliment the urban chic feel of the venue with its sophisticated industrial design, exposed brick walls, famous staircase from the Palladium and stunning big apple city views. She wanted it to be trendy, yet classy. She steered away from color and used ivory in every detail along the way.

A Vera Wang Showstopper

Starting off at the Vera Wang Studio, the boutique assistant Jillian Bonura helped Liz find the dress of her dreams - the Octavia design. An ivory strapless ball gown fit for a modern-day princess. The gown boasts a sweetheart neckline, hand-gathered soft French tulle bodice and a ruched tulle technique overlay with a nude foundation. Delicate and modern, it is embellished only by the manipulation of the fabric. Octavia is a gown that is designed to be in constant motion, revealing different layers of transparency with each graceful movement made on a wedding day. Liz said the customer service at the Vera Wang Studio was simply incredible. Add some Jimmy Choo heels and the bride was radiant.

Bridesmaids in Ivory

For her best girls - they decided on custom-made gowns. Beginning with a basic cut, each bridesmaid was able to edit the gown to her own liking. They chose a beautiful Georgette silk, fully lined in charmeuse. Again, steering away from color, Liz dressed her bridesmaids in ivory for an ultra chic, monochromatic look.

An Intimate Wedding

The ceremony and reception were both on the Tribeca Rooftop with 180 friends and family in attendance to watch the lovely couple say their "I Do's." They originally dreamed of a small intimate wedding, but Billy is surrounded by many friends who have become "family" over the years and Liz comes from a large family whose grandparents had 14 children! So the list was intimate in their own definition of the word.

Wedding Details

Looking back, Liz thought about all the details she focused on throughout the planning process, like the wording on the menu, the specific flowers, right down to, of course, her nail polish. She now understands the age-old advice: "Don't sweat the small stuff." She was so caught up in everything being perfect that she nearly forgot to put on her veil. Coming to her rescue were her maid of honor and her bridesmaids. Her guests were not critiquing the font she chose for her menu, they were there to eat, drink and most certainly - celebrate Liz and Billy's love story!

Ivory Touches

She worked with Pedestals Florist who designed ivory bouquets for her and her maids. They also created complimenting tall branch and floral designs that peppered the rooftop during the ceremony and graced the tables in high fashion for the reception. Small hanging votive candles hung from the branches to create a warm glow around the room.

Urban Chic and Rooftop Love

Liz expressed that the most special part of their wedding was the actual ceremony. They chose to take their photos prior to their nuptials, but when they met again at the altar the realness of it all set in. They were both nervous and emotional at that one single moment.

In the end, Liz and her groom shared the most perfect day with their friends and family. We are thrilled Liz and their photographer, Michael Segal, shared this urban chic rooftop wedding with us at Strictly Weddings.
