Strictly Weddings' Chicago Luxe Lister HMR Designs illustrates the value of an original work and the virtues of fine art, devising the ultimate modern wedding decor for the urban sophisticate in this stunning shoot by Kent Drake Photography.

Appropriately enough, the Modern Wing at the Art Institute of Chicago served as the canvas for HMR Event Designer, Rishi Patel, who painted a brilliant picture of a contemporary occasion.

"The couple imagined an ultra-modern celebration," Rishi explains. "They wanted to include statement pieces, but they wanted them striking yet clean."

With the exception of a few gold accents beneath the mandap, the pair opted for an all-white ceremony, including the canopy and guest seating, draping, and aisle fabric. This allowed for the bride, groom, and guests - dressed in bold colors and patterns - to provide the color in the ceremony.

Guests were welcomed to the sleek, narrow setting by a floating Ganesh made of deep red roses attached to a lucite panel, which allowed them to peek into the ceremony. Giant bursts of monochromatic white gladiolus punctuated each side of the aisle entrance adding to the streamlined look. And the results are flawless!

In keeping with a non-traditional approach, guests were directed to their seats from a large, custom-printed frosted lucite frame, inspired by the modern architecture of the venue space. Fuchsia phalaenopsis orchids in water tubes were suspended from the frame to add a splash of color to the combination of clear and white.

For the reception, the goal was to infuse a stark white room with pungent color. Doing what they do best, HMR crafted impeccable floral arrangements to enhance their chic Chicago modern wedding decor. Deep purples, fuchsias, reds and chartreuse were combined in combinations of lush, low, pave-style arrangements sprouting green goddess calla lilies, as well as cantilevered bunches atop lucite and glass containers for height. At Strictly Weddings, this is what we mean when we say "wow factor."

"The restraint used in this design allowed for the color and culture of the celebration to truly shine and impeccably complement the space," Rishi concludes.

We concur - this less-is-more approach is fresh and fabulous. HMR Designs has outdone themselves once again, giving us an extraordinary décor with a modern-day twist. Strictly Weddings can't wait to see what they come up with next.
